The membership of the Indian National Cartographic Association( INCA) shall consist of the following ten Categories:

The designatory letters for use by various categories of members of the Association shall be

Any person discontinuing his membership or otherwise ceasing to be a member shall be precluded from using the above designatory letters after his name and shall not in any form or by inference indicate that he is connected with the Association.
Life Members enrolled before 31st Dec 1980 shall be designated as Founder Members.
a) The Association may elect distinguished scientists as its Honorary Fellows.
To be eligible for election as a Honorary Fellow of the Association, a person must satisfy the following Criteria:
i) He should have shown evidence of original work in cartography or allied fields.
ii) He should have at least ten years of acceptable proffessional experience; and
iii) He must be engaged actively in the advancement of cartography in any of its aspects.
c) The power to elect Honorary Fellows shall vest in the Executive Committee. Such election shall be supported by not less than two-thirds of the total number of members of the Committee or three-fourths of the members present and voting, which ever is less.
d) Once elected a person shall remain a Fellow of the Association for life; and the total number of Fellows at any time shall not exceed ten.
TRANSFER FROM LIFE MEMBER TO LIFE FELLOW/DIRECT ADMISSION Criterion for admission as Life Fellow: i) The applicant should not be less than 45 years of age. He/She should fulfill the eligibility conditions of Life Member as laid down in the Memorandum, Rules and Bye-laws of the Association. ii) The applicant should be a person of eminence in the field of Cartography and allied fields. iii) The applicant should be actively involved in achieving the aims and objects of the Association for the advancement of Cartography. iv) The applicant should have at least of 10 years of professional experience in the field of Cartography and allied fields or should be holding a responsible position in a leading Institution to the satisfaction of the Executive Committee.
Persons who donate Rs. 2000/- or more at a time to the Assocition for the Promotion of cartography and whose membership has been approved by the executive Committee shall be its Benefactors.
a) The Association may elect persons of eminence in the fields of Geography/cartography and allied sciences from outside India as Honorary Members. They shall be elected unanimously by the Executive Committee in accordance with the Bye-Laws and shall hold office during life.
b) The total number of Honorary Members at any time shall not exceed twenty.
: Persons keenly interested in the development of cartography, geography or allied disciplines (or such other qualifications as may be determined from time to time by the Executive Committee) and who have paid the fee prescribed by the Executive Committee from time to time shall be life members. However, the Executive Committee may relax the professional qualifications prescribed in special cases.
Persons possessing at least a Master's degree in cartography, geography or allied discipliens or who are engaged in teaching, research or other professional activities and who have paid the fee prescribed by the Executive Committee may relax the professional qualifications prescribed in special cases.
Person who though working in other cognate feilds, are genuinely interested and wish to participate in the work of the Association shall be Associate Members on payment of the fee prescribed by the Executive Committee from time to time.
Geographical and cartographical societies and associations, departments of geography and cartography in universities and colleges and other academic and research institutions engaged in geographical and cartographical research and recognised as such by the Executive Committee shall be the Institutional Members or Institutional Life Members on payment of the fee prescribed by the Executive Committee from time to time.
Persons who are pursuing a regular course in cartography, geography or allied disciplines in a recognised institution of higher learning shall be student members on payment of the fee prescribed by the Executive Committee from time to time.
Fees for different categories of membership shall be prescribed by the Executive Committee. However, until it decides otherwise, the following shall be the prescribed membership fees for the categories listed below :

A member may resign membership by a letter addressed to the president of the Assocition and delivered at the registered office of the Association. Such resignation shall take effect from the date of the letter (or if it is undated, from the date of its receipt at the registered office of the Association).
If any member has not paid his membership fee for two consecutive years inspite of written reminders from the Honorary Secretary/Treasurer, the Honorary Secretary may serve him a final notice for payment within three months. If the member fails to clear his dues within the period stipulated in the notice, he shall be deemed to have resigned his membership and threafter will cease to have any connection with the Association, nor will he enjoy any rights and privileges.
The member who has resigned or is deemed to have resigned from the membership of the Association is required to return to the Honorary Secretary the diploma or certificate of membership, if any, issued to him by the Association.
In Special case the Executive Committee may restore the membership of a person provided he/she applies for the same to the president of the Association in writing and agrees to pay all arrears of subscription. The Executive will decide each such case on merits.
(a) All persons or institutions shall be deemed to have become members of respective categories of the Association from the financial year in which their membership fee is paid or in which they are elected office bearers of the Association unless he has paid the membership fee at least one year before the date of such election.
(b) Renewal of membership by members, Institutional Members, Associate Members, and Student Members will be contigent upon the payment in adcvance of the Membership Fee on or before the 1st April of each year. How ever, one month period of grace will be allowed for the renewal of the membership.
The Association shall maintain a register of members in which a seprate section will be devoted to each of the ten categories of membership. The register shall give:
(a) the name and address of each member.
(b) the date on which he was addmitted; and
(c) the date on which he ceased to be a member.
Rights and Privileges of Members :
(1) Founder Members, Fellows, Life Members, Institutional Members(i.e the person duly accredited by the institution to represent them on the Association at the rate of two persons per instution) and Members shall have the following rights:
(a) to attend all meetings of the Association and to vote there at;
(b) to elect office bearers of the Association;
(c) to hold office under the Association on being duly elected in accordance with the provisions of Rules and Bye laws.
(d) to present papers and participate in the discussions at the academic conferences of the Association and to receive the papers related to the same;
(e) to receive a copy of the official journal of the Association; and
(f) to receive other publications of the Association at such concessional rates as may be decided by the Executive Committee from time to time.
(2) Honorary Members shall have the following rights:
(a) to present papers and participate in the discussions at the academic conferences of the Association and to receive the papers related to the same;
(b) to receive a copy of the official journal of the Association; and
(c) to receive other publications of the Association at such concessional rates as may be decided by the Executive Committee from time to time.
(3) Associate Members abd Student members shall have the following rights:
(a) to present papers and participate in the discussions at the academic conferences of the Association and to receive the papers related to the same;
(b) to receive other publications of the Association at such concessional rates as may be decided by the Executive Committee from time to time.
(4) It shall be open to any person, on approval by the Association and on payment of the prescribed fee to register himself as a sessional member of the Association for any conference organised by it. Such Sessional Members shall have the rights to present papers and participate in the discussion at the academic conference for which they are registered and to receive the papers related to the same. They shall have no rights and thier membership shall cease when the conference is over.
